Portable Waste Holding Tanks

A portable waste holding tank is simply a tank on wheels.  We will often carry ours if we are looking at a Boondock in the range of 20-25 days. This is because it allows us to dump our grey and black water without having to pack-up everything to take Blue Streak to a dump station. Blue Streak’s grey and black water tanks can support us about 14 or so days depending on usage. 💧💩

It’s important to remember that when you are Boondocking you are somewhere that does not have a sewer connection that is often found at “Full Service” Campgrounds or RV Parks.

Having a portable waste holding tank allows you to simply connect the portable tank to your onboard waste tanks system and drain down into the portable tank.  Once you have accomplish this you can then transport the portable tank to a dump station.

Since our Black Water Tank in Blue Streak is 68 litres (18 US gallons) we purchased a Camco 39002 Rhino Heavy Duty 21 Gallon Portable Waste Holding Tank with Hose and Accessories.  We are able to attach it to the back of our truck for “short distance” towing.  If I have to lift it into the rear truck bed for transportation, we never dump more than 30 or so litres (about 8 US Gallons) from Blue Streak.  The reason you ask???  Poop weights 1 Kilogram or 2.205 lb per litre – do the math – poop is heavy. 😎
