Upgrades for Red Dragon

We were going to wait till spring but the opportunity came, so we did a couple of upgrades on Red Dragon.  We replaced the tires with the same type of tires that has been on Red Dragon for the last several years, which are BFGoodrich all-terrain TA KO2 lt275/65r20/e 126s (3750/3415) – in other words: bulletproof 10 ply tires.? We go this heavy-duty for tires because 90% of our travelling, for camping, is off road and/or on logging roads. I have found them to take us anywhere we want to go while towing 6500# of Airstream travel trailer and on the Hwy they are very quite inside Red Dragon. ? The kicker is,  with new lugs, I’m  coughing up $1700 Canadian dollars – Credit Card Shocker!. Needless to say, with that expenditure I also went for a complete wheel alignment (just a $100 more, eh!). You just can’t have one without the other.  One could say that my new heart saying is: safety triumphs over money ?

Since we run a 3.5L ecoboost engine in our F-150HD FX4. We have been looking into one of the areas that the “direct injection” can become problematic and that is valve carbonization.  This is caused by oil vapours that are not burned off the valves. So, to solve this problem, we have installed the Mishimoto oil dual baffled catch can kit.  Let’s face it, a lot cheaper that an engine rebuilt ?.

Well now, when spring comes we are all set for towing and boondocking on the island.
